Tenganan Village is One of Beautiful Native Balinese Culture

Tenganan Village is a village in Bali that referred to as native Balinese People even the world is being attacked by technology. This is because the people in the Village still hold on to the ancient culture of their ancestors. Up to today, Tenganan Village has become a unique village with priceless traditional art culture.

Tenganan Village is in Karangasem. From Denpasar City, you can find on 80 kilometers or 108 kilometers from Bali Airport. This village is surrounded by hills with a height of 70 meters above sea levels. The closest destination to this village is Candidasa, which is only 5 kilometers to the south.

Become the tourism destination, many residents of Tenganan Village sell handicrafts to tourists. There a line of the art shop in the entrance. They sell a lot of crafts such as woven bamboo, carvings, mini paintings carved on palm leaves that have been burned before.

Tenganan Village has native Balinese, not immigrant communities. Most of the villagers are cloth weavers. Most popular in the village is Geringsing cloth. It is a distinctive cloth that is a cultural product in the village. The geringsing cloth is a cloth commonly used by the Balinese people for special ceremonies such as Mepandes, Married, and other Hindu ceremonies. This cloth is believed to be able to reject the crime that obstructs the ceremony.

The process of making Geringsing cloth from the beginning to the end is done by hand. The Geringsing fabric motif uses only three colors called Tri Datu. Natural coloring used in making Geringsing cloth motifs is tree petals, Baccaurea racemosa mixed with Morinda citrifolia as red, old candlenut oil (± 1 year) mixed with water powder/wood ash as yellow, and Taum tree for black.

Other of the uniqueness of this village is its traditional house. The traditional house of the residents of Tenganan was built from red brick, river stone, and land. The roof is made from a collection of thatch leaves. The houses have relatively the same shape and size. His trademark entrance is wide depending on one person.

The Mekare-kare tradition (Megeret Pandan) or often known as the pandan war. This tradition is held once a year and is one of the most popular tourist attractions for tourists in Bali. The tradition of pandan war carried out by using thorny pandan as a tool or weapon for war. Spiny pandan used is pandan which has been tied so that it is shaped like a mace. Pandan war participants also use a shield. Pandan war is accompanied by Seloding gamelan orchestra.
