Borobudur Temple

Visited by millions of people every year, the Borobudur Temple called UNESCO as the grandest and largest monument and stupa complex in the world is indeed stunning. The Borobudur Temple Compounds is one of the greatest heritage of Buddhist monuments in Indonesia or even the world. It was built in the 8th and 9th centuries AD during the reign of the Syailendra Dynasty.

The Borobudur Temple is located in the Badrawati Street, Borobudur Temple in Central Java. There are several ways to travel to Borobodur Temple Compounds. The most common point is in Yogyakarta, which approximately takes an hour driving away to reach this Borobudur Temple. You can hire a car or take the public bus to get to the temples.

The main temple is a stupa built in three tiers around a hill which were a natural center. Two striking things that are immediately visible when visiting Borobudur temple is the number of reliefs (carvings of the walls) and the Stupa. In addition to the beautiful combination of these two things, it turns out that the meaning is also deeply contained.

The Borobudur building structure is built using a mandala style. Besides that, it also symbolizes the concept of the universe in Buddhist belief. The temple is square, has 4 entrances, and the center of the temple is circular. There are 3 zones in Borobudur temple which are Kamadhatu. In the form of 160 wall reliefs with an explanation of Karmawibhangga Sutra (the law of cause and effect). It symbolizes the world of nature. Rupadhatu.

Consisting of relief carvings and Buddha statues. There are approximately 328 Buddhist statues with relief ornaments here. It represents the transitional world, nature where humans are free from world affairs. Arupadhatu. This zone is a circling zone in the center of the temple, in the form of three chambers that lead to the dome in the center. This area has no relief, indicating the highest purity.

Visitors can go up to the temple. It's good to enjoy the beauty around, you have to admit this rich cultural heritage of high value. The whole structure shows a unique blending of the very central ideas of worship related to the idea of a terraced mountain, combined with the Buddhist concept of attaining Nirvana.

Borobudur Temple is open every day from 6 AM to 5 PM. You should visit during sunrise or sunset so you can get the best views for your amazing capture! Also, you should avoid visiting on the weekends to avoid the crowd. The best moment to visit is on the night of Vesak day.
